Employer Based Training

Employer Based Training

Employer Based Training (EBT) Programs create employment opportunities for individuals needing additional job training, while giving them the opportunity to learn the skills associated with a specific job.

On-the-Job Training (OJT)

OJT is a component of WIOA that allows qualified employers to receive a wage subsidy reimbursement for providing on-the-job skills training to eligible WIOA members. This program is intended to assist employers who have difficulty filling job openings through traditional means (i.e. internet, newspaper/trade journals, or standard job order postings).

Training is available to members who have been screened, assessed and formally referred for hire. The expressed purpose of this training is to provide marketable skills that will enable participating members to obtain long-term employment in order to establish or maintain self-sufficiency.

Customized Training

Eligible participants under customized training may include newly hired employees that meet the eligibility criteria established under the various funding grants and may include incumbent workers, if said worker is not earning a self-sufficient wage as determined by Employ BR.

With employers being the target customer, customized training is designed to meet the special training requirements of an employer or group of employers. A customized training agreement may be initiated with the commitment of the employer(s) to employ, or in the case of incumbent workers, retain an individual upon successful completion of training for which an employer pays for not less than 50% of the cost of the training

Work Experience Program (WEP)

Work experience is intensive services under WIOA. Work experience is a planned, structured learning experience that takes place in a workplace setting for a limited period of time. Work experience may be paid or unpaid. Work experience must be clearly distinguishable from public service employment.

Work experience functions as a workplace-values activity for the acquiring of behavioral competencies and specific occupations or job skills. It is a strategy for participants who have little or no work experience in situations where an employer can offer a meaningful experience. Although an employer may also receive some benefit from work experience in the form of work being done or recruiting a potential new employee, the primary goal is to benefit the participant.

Become a Training Provider

WIOA mandates that the Local Workforce Development Boards (LWDB), in conjunction with the Louisiana Workforce Commission (LWC), identify training service providers whose performance qualifies them to receive WIOA funds to train job seekers. If you are interested in becoming a training provider, you must complete the application process for eligibility.
